About VoteOnCongress.com
The VoteOnCongress.com site allows people to read and vote on bills before the U.S.
Senate and House of Representatives, as well as voting on whether they approve of
their own congressmen and women. Out intent is for this site to be free from partisanship,
and to help prevent the way interest groups trump the voice of voters with their
representation in Congress.
Voting on the bills and legislators is not the only feature of this site. You can
quickly find how to contact your representatives, locate demographic information
about Congress, view voting records and also see who top contributors are. You can
also sign up to be contacted by e-mail whenever your representatives vote on a bill.
Much of the information on the VoteOnCongress.com site is available on other websites,
but this site is unique because of the voting feature and the amount of information
that is available in one place.
This site provides a way for you to research an entire bill from beginning to end.
Instead of taking hours to find, you can get all of the information in one place
in five minutes.
We hope that what sets VoteOnCongress.com apart from other Web sites is the relative
ease with which inexperienced computer users can access and use the site.
Although this site was created to increase civic engagement, advertising space will
be sold to help cover the costs of operating the site, and hopefully expand it to
include some other branches of government in the future.
We would like for legislators and interest groups to have their ads on the site
so that people can check what they are saying against the records we have on the
site. Our goal is for this to be a national site. We eventually want to put up the
same kind of information for the Supreme Court and information about the president,
and intend to eventually have the state legislature up as well.
